DFW Airport Service And Light Rail Connections

By Edna Booker

There are airport shuttles and then there are airport shuttles. When it comes to DFW Airport Service near Dallas, Texas, there are a number of options running throughout the airport. One of the newest features is that these airport shuttle buses now act as a connecting force between three different cities.

Most often, those needing to travel between gates use the airtrans system which are a series of driverless trains serving different terminal stops. Whereas, those accompanying travelers to or from flights often use these shuttle buses. Now that the buses also serve the area light rail system, more people are using these shuttles than ever before.

While most shuttles operate within the complex, there are several which also serve the local rent-a-car center at which the train station is also located. As such, locals and tourists now use the light rail system and connections at the airport to travel between Dallas, Texas, also known as Big D and Fort Worth, also known as Cowtown. From the terminal rent-a-car stop, individuals can either take a train toward Big D or Cowtown, together often referred to as the metroplex.

The Hyatt Regency, while operating outside the complex can still be reached through a different shuttle service. While this is the case, the Hyatt Grand is most often the first choice of hotels for travelers to the area. Whereas, the Regency is often the second choice when the other Hyatt is booked or out of service due to construction and repairs.

Within the gates, Airtrans, a driverless train, carries travelers between gates in a short amount of time. Although, as the security area at some gates does not open as early as some flights depart, it is often necessary to take one of the external shuttle buses when needing to make an early flight.

Still, as there has never been any form of mass transit in the DFW metroplex, these new options have made it easier for locals and tourists to visit more attractions than in the past. While there is now a bus to and from Arlington, the schedule remains quite limited, especially for those wishing to attend games or visit amusement parks which operate well outside transit hours. For most, the best way to handle a trip to an event in Arlington using mass transit is to book a hotel for the night of the event, then travel back to the airport the following day.

Another nice feature of the DFW Grand Hyatt is the coffee bar, lounge and gourmet restaurant. All of which can be accessed by individuals with or without an airline ticket as along with the hotel. When it comes to baggage claim and meeting friends and relatives, all baggage claim areas of each gate are located next to elevators leading to either the parking garage, rent-a-car shuttles or shuttle buses.

Whether arriving or departing, there is clear signage as to the different parking areas of which there are a number of options. As such, individuals can choose from close-in, long-term or remote parking options. As with most facilities, when parking close-up, it is important to adhere to all parking warning signs to avoid fees, fines or tows.
