Why A Prepper Survival Pack Must Contain Valuable Items

By Edna Booker

There are many things that can happen out there. Many people think that those things will involve a foreign invasion, an overbearing government or a large flood. It could also be massive power outages or other weather related issues. When things like this happens, you will have to leave your home, possibly for quite a while. That is when you will need what experts call a Prepper Survival Pack.

This kit is often called a bug out bag. That means that anything you have in this pack is all you are leaving your home with. It also means that carefully planned bag or pack must have essentials and nothing that can not be used. Each person must carry their own bag.

The ingredients for this bag are crucial. Most experts in the field and participants of the survival movement state that a supply of life saving items should last for at least three days. This should be enough time to, if possible, find a safe place for more permanent arraignments. A look at these items will help you understand what is involved in this preparation.

Three days of water is heavy. Do not believe that you will be able to take a shower everyday. The water you carry will be for hydrating your body as in drinking and cooking and cleaning dishes. The need for water, especially if you are on the run, is vital for the proper functioning of your body.

Food for three days can get heavy if you are packing cans. There are foods that are light weight, such as dehydrated meals called MRE or Meals Ready to Eat. These are used by our military personnel. Larger quantities of these can be purchased, often at a discount, in many survival or regular grocery stores. They simply need water and some heat and they are good to go.

A tent or tarp can be your temporary home away from home as long as it keeps the rain and other harsh weather conditions out. The sleeping bag or a set of blankets for each person is also critical. You need sleep after a day of battling the environment or other dangerous conditions. Keeping everything dry and damage free will help you accomplish a level of comfort you need.

First aid is something most people do not think about when at home. Medical care may be few and far between, so you will need bandages, disinfectant and sanitary wipes as a bare minimum. Regular medications your party takes will need to be included as well as pain relievers and anti inflammatory drugs. Water purification pills will also help in a last resort sort of attempt at sanitary drinking water.

This kit, bag or pack must contain all of the things that are going to keep you alive for a few days. Everything in it is crucial and valuable. The life you save, if only for a few days, is your own and, indirectly, your family, friends or others you cared enough about to take along. Think carefully about everything and throw in a paperback or two, just in case.
